δ is a time capsule.

The brainchild of two artist-scientists—the composer, artist, and engineer Eli Backer and the writer niyati—the piece is an interactive art book conceived, created, designed, and produced between Election Day 2020 and Inauguration Day 2021.

The highly tactile work consists of 25 double-sided cards—a collection of texts and drawings by niyati, mapped to a river delta on one side, and an intimate photojourney and text by Eli on the other—and considers grief, rivers, time, and change on personal, interpersonal, and societal levels.

Composition: 25 triangular cards, riso-printed with black, smoky teal, and medium blue ink on white, 100% cotton paper, contained in a matte black, triangular 3D-printed box|cage and secured with a polished, stainless steel pin.
